1. Can you walk to the beach?
Yes! We are within 15 minutes walking distance to Arrifana Beach. We are also always happy to give guests lifts to Arrifana and other beaches close to the lodge on Saturday's and Sunday's (non surfing days) or in the evenings.
2. How close is the nearest town?
The nearest town is Aljezur which is a 10 minute drive from the lodge. It is a municipal town and contains a health center, pharmacy, supermarkets, historic castle, museums, and lots of great restaurants and bars. We offer free transfers from Aljezur on arrival and departure.
3. What is the easiest way to get from Faro airport to Lagos (for free allocated transfer)?
The best way to get from Faro airport to Lagos is by shuttle transfer, by train or by bus! When booking a shuttle transfer check out http://www.mytransfer.pt/.The price is around €25 round trip. You will need a credit card to book and they will send you a confirmation email to your email address which you will need to print out to show to the driver at arrivals at Faro airport. The driver will have your name on a board as you exit through arrivals at Faro airport. When booking this you need to state that Lagos Marina Club Hotel is your destination point.

Allocated pick up times in Lagos are either 12:30 or 19:30 on Saturday or Sunday. If you arrive early and have to wait for the pick up then the marina is a great place to eat or grab a drink and it is located right next to the marina club hotel. We pick up at the Marina Club Hotel, train station, or bus station in Lagos.
You also have the option to get the bus from Lagos to Aljezur at 15:20. We can then pick you up in Aljezur at 15:55. For any other times you can book a taxi from Lagos directly to the lodge. 4. Do we need to rent a car?
A car is not necessary but it will make your hoilday more flexible. It can be nice to have transport to other areas of the Algarve on Saturday's and Sunday's (non surfing days) and it also makes transfer to the lodge very easy. We recommend for guests that are booked on the experienced surfer package to rent a car as we only offer transport to beaches where our surf classes will be given. The car rental companies offer great deals out of season so it can be a great option. Check out www.autorent.pt for some great rental deals.
5. Do you cater for people that are on a vegan or gluten free diet?
Yes. We cater for all different meal requirements including vegetarians, Coeliacs, vegans, and any type of food allergies. Please let Sarah know when making a booking.
6. Will there be other total beginners staying at the lodge?
Generally yes. Beginners and intermediate surfers like to choose us for their surfing holiday as we always offer outstanding tuition.
7. Is there an ATM close to the lodge?
Yes. The ATM is located less than a 5 min drive from the lodge. We are always happy to stop at the ATM to and from the beach if needed.
8. Is there anywhere to go out at night?
Yes. Arrifana Surf lodge is located very close to a few local restaurants as well as a small Portuguese bar. The restaurant at Arrifana beach is also a great place to hang out on Thursday evenings. It is a very small village however so if you are looking for a party this might not be the place for you.
9. Do you hire out boards and wetsuits?
Yes. Boards are hired out at €20 per day and wetsuits are hired out at €5 per day. We do offer special discounts for hiring out on a weekly basis! We have a large variety of hard and soft boards ranging from 6' - 9'2. Boards and wetsuits are included in the price of our beginner, intermediate or advanced surfer packages. They are not included with the experienced surfer package.
10. What can we do on non surfing days?
Saturdays and Sundays are great days to have some much needed chill time. If you have a rental car then it gives you a great oppurtunity to explore some of the amazing coastline or the mountain village of Monchique. Feel free to use one of our bikes and explore some trails. We can also suggest hanging out at one of the local beaches, shopping in the town of Aljezur, horse riding with one of the local horse stables or rent a scooter for the day.
11. Do you ever have families stay?
Yes. Having a small family ourselves we usually attract families and love to have them stay!
12. What is the best airport to fly into?
Faro airport is the best airport to fly into as it is the closest. It is approximately 1hr hour and 15 minutes drive from the lodge. Lisbon is also a good airport to fly into. There is a bus that takes 4.5 hours to get into Aljezur where we can pick you up. Aljezur is only 10 min drive from the lodge.
13. Can you accept arrivals during Monday - Friday or bookings that are shorter than a week?
Yes with exceptions. We only accept arrivals during Monday - Friday out of high season. Out of high season we do accept bookings for less than a week and from Monday - Friday but our surf course only runs from Monday - Friday so guests arriving during the week days may miss out on surfing days. There are no free transfers available from Lagos on the weekdays. We can offer transfers from Aljezur however.
14. Do you get many people traveling alone?
Yes. The majority of the guests that stay with us travel alone as it is a great opportunuty to meet new people.
15. Do you accept credit cards?
No. We only accept bank transfer or cash payments.
16. My flight departs Faro airport at 7:00am. How can I get to Lagos or the airport at this time?
We will be able to arrange a taxi for you from the surf lodge to lagos which will cost around €45. Mytransfer.pt does offer transfers in the early hours of the morning from Lagos to Faro. Usually the shuttle leaves Lagos at around 4am for flights leaving at 7am. You can also book a private shuttle transfer or a taxi direct from the lodge to the airport for around €130.
17. My flight arrives at Faro airport at 22:10am. I will only arrive at the lodge around midnight. Is this too late?
Yes, I am afraid we only accept check in from 12:00 until 23:00. In this case it is best to sleep over in Faro or Lagos and we can collect you from Lagos the following day.
18. When can we check in and check out?
Check in times are from 12:00 - 23:00 and check out time is at 10:30.
19. What do guests normally do for dinner when no meals are provided at the surf lodge.
Arrifana Surf Lodge has been working together with a few local restaurants to provide great priced meals on nights where meals are not provided at the lodge. Guests can choose to eat at one of these restaurants or pick another of many great places to eat. Guests also have the choice to cook at the lodge using the kitchen facilities available. There is a grocery shop very close to the lodge that provides fresh local produce and dry staples.
